There is another crazy dog lady in our area. I have known her for YEARS. She is a wonderful person. She takes in strays and vets them and has them altered. Bless her heart she loves dogs. She lives in the country with many acres, and many dogs are dropped off there. She takes them in for the long haul. She never re-homes them, because she falls in love with them. They are kept well, clean and healthy.

Problem, she took in a pitbull, female, several months ago. She LOVES this dog, but she cannot keep her. From the way she explains the dog to me, the dog is another Zeus!!! The dog is lovable, sweet, so smart, but doesn't listen AND ha started aggression with the other animals. I don't know for sure if she has DA that is blossoming or if it is jealousy, but she doesn't find it comforting to keep this dog outside on a chain, when whatever it is, is possibly natural or too hard to change.

The dog would be best as an only dog or with someone that can put time into training. Someone patient. I also suggest no children as she has never been around them and with her high drive it is probably not a good idea. She is spayed and UTD on everything.

This woman has dogs that she saved that are 14,15nad up years old. She is afraid that they will suffer if she keeps this dog. She is willing to keep the dog until a home TO HER LIKING is found. And trust me, she will check up on the dog periodically. This is killing her mentally but she just cant take the risks involved with an ADHD dog...I know her pain!

The dog is about 11 months old. Will post pics as soon as I get them.

Placing a DA Pit Bull in a good home is difficult at best. As a requirement for consideration of adoption, she is taking all the right steps with her checklist of do's and don'ts. Still, she has a hard row to hoe.

Finding a rescue today that has any space for a well mannered Pit Bull is nearly impossible. I recently tried to help someone locally that called me needing a new home for their dog (not one of my dogs, I always take them back) due to personal family issues. This guy needed to move soon and his dog would not be welcome with the family that was extending the invitation to him. Animal control told him that the shelter had no space at all and the dog would be euthanized the same day he dropped it off. Personally, I can't imagine life without my dogs and having to part with any of them in a situation like his or the one you describe.

The best chance that dog has of living a safe, happy life is to do as you suggest, crate and separate the dog, keep the dog herself until she can find a suitable home where she can screen potential adopters herself. Even then, she needs to be very careful. I read an article recently where one dog fighter was sending out his well dressed, well spoken wife out to collect free dogs listed in Craig's list and local newspaper ads to use as bait dogs.

I would be willing to help educate her on how to best screen potential adopters if she needs direction. Feel free to give her my contact information posted in my bio.

The dog is not "advertised", this is the only ad I have done. She hasn't contacted anyone other then myself about this issue. I will send her your info. Thanks.

I only suggested that she not try to find the dog a new home by placing free dog ads for the reasons given. I was trying to help. I did not say that you or her are "advertising" for a new home for this dog, I was only sharing my experience with what could happen based on a news story I read. It's hard to hear tone in something that is written but I can clearly read that you are offended. What I don't understand is why. It was not my intent.

No need to apologize. I just didn't want you to go away offended! ;)
