If you go away, what do you do with your dog? Do you take the dog with you? Do you board the dog? Other? I won't go anywhere without my dog. If the dog can't go, I don't go.
Go away? I don't know what you mean! I haven't had a vacation away from home in years. I don't trust anyone with my dogs. I'm doing good to spend a day at the beach with the fam.
I took JC to Florida when he was a puppy. When I go to my friend's country house, he comes with me. Other than that, I stay home The only ones I would leave my dog with are my friends in the country or my other friend, who would have to stay in my apartment with JC.
Same here...I don't trust anyone with my dogs. I haven't been on a go-away vacation in years! I have Stay-cations...thankfully I have an Oasis in my side yard.
My BF and I haven't gone on a trip for about 15 years, and when we did, we took the dog we had at the time. Now we take separate vacations. I'm ususally the one who goes away, and I take Hans with me but leave Ladybug home with the BF. I haven't gone away anywhere I couldn't take Hans since I've had him. We've never boarded a dog or had a house sitter. JC is probably pretty easy to take along
I'm very lucky. My kids breeders board our dogs. A retired breeder from whom I got 3 previous dogs has a boarding kennel a few miles from Philadelphia Airport, so she drives us to the airport and we can leave our dogs and the car at her place. All of those places treat my dogs as their own because, well..., they are!
I haven't been on vacation in a very, very long time, but if I do go, my dog comes with me or else I stay at home.
Fact is I would love to spend a Thanksgiving or Christmas with relations in other States, go on a ski trip vacation (Terry Peak in '94 was an awesome time) or take wifey back to the warm sands and turquoise water of the Caribbean. Back then my dad was still alive. He and mom would stay here at the house 24-7 and care for the dogs. I don't have that anymore...
