    Hi All,
I'm new to the forum, just signed up today. I have a bit of a problem with dog hating neighbours and it's
    evolved into something absolutely ridiculous.
A year ago I recieved a call from the Animal Control services stating they had recieved a complaint about my dog not being on his leash.
Once the complaint was investigated,it seemed the proof was a photo of me hooking my dog to his leash about 8ft in front of my house on the public sidewalk.
Well the animal control officer was pissed about responding to such a bogus call but advised me to hook up my dog before leaving the house,"just to keep the idiots off my back".
Now I've recieved a standard letter from animal control saying they received a complaint about the smell of dog poop that is very rarely left in my backyard,as well as a letter from the landlord stating the nieghbours claim that their balcony is unuseable because of the smell.
The thing is,it does'nt stink! It can be spotted from my neighbours balcony about 20ft away and 10ft above ground level, but we are talking about 1-2 poops that are sometimes left for a couple hours.
Tank eats dry food and is continuously healthy, his stool is always fairly dry and as you know I have to get right over top of it to pick it up.
I have other neighbours just as close who swear they have never smelt anything!
The code here in Toronto states that it must be picked up immediately,so ok it usually is,but occasionally it's left for a short period.
It's been my experience that a couple turds could not render a balcony unuseable from that distance, even if it was extremely stinky.
I'm venting here and sorry about that, but the poop in question is of the bull variety!
I need some feedback and advise,I've ordered some some very realistic fake poop from an online novelty shop that I'm going to spread it around just to prove their complaint is bs,I know they'll complain about the smell as soon as they spot it.

Is there poop in the yard on a warm and humid day? That might smell. Just throwing out some thoughts here.

You have to let us know what happens with the fake poop! That is a brilliant idea!!!:D

We've certainly had alot of warm humid days,in fact I beleive they might have posssibly gotten a slight whiff once or twice but not enough to render a balcony unuseable.
Funny thing is,they never use the balcony.
I'm going to video tape the whole deal with the fake poop,it should be a good laugh for the forum members.
Thanks for your responce, hope your having a good weekend.

    Welcome Dave!
    :cc:

Like you said, I can see where the neighbors might on occasion get a faint whiff if the wind is right but even at that, I doubt that it would be so offensive as to make their balcony unusable. Sounds like your neighbors are going to have a problem with your dog no matter what you do.

I can't wait to hear the outcome of the fake poop experiment!

I don't beleive there is any way they could smell two turds from that far away... I love your fake poop idea! :cs:

I agree with Ingrid....I can't see 2 turd piles causing that much of a stink...unless someone is actually stepping in it, that can cause the pile to get a little more odorous. LOL
I would say to stay on top of picking them up ASAP, as much as you can...that way they can't have much to bitch about.

Thanks..me and my wife are all over it.
Tank does'nt really use the back yard for his business that much.
He's a big healthy dog that needs 3-4 hrs daily exercise at the dog park,so he usually does his thing there.
This family is new to Canada, dogs are not part of their culture and they truly seem to hate and fear them,
that should'nt be a problem for Tank and me.. but it is.
I'll post a few pics of him soon,he's kind of special. I saved him from a kill shelter and it's like I won the lottery
every day since then...I think you guys know what I mean!

Wait-it is illegal to have the SMELL of poop coming from your yard??? What if it were a compost pile? Or whatever-ha! Wish Ida had a chance at a neighbor who happened to smell poop coming from my yard!
